Sample Programs:

  • The Music of William Billings: The lesson on the music of William Billings will be taught in the form of a lecture/concert. During the beginning of the program, the audience will hear a lecture that begins with the historical background of Billings’ life. The next portion of the lecture includes small music excerpts which are demonstrated preferably by a choir or ensemble; however, musical recordings serve as a suitable substitute in the absence of live music. At the end of the lecture, students will hear a concert of Billings’ music. If a live performance is not possible, full recorded anthems may be played during the course of the lecture rather than as a large set at the end.
