Gladius

Gladius

Inspired by the great composers, Spanish guitar maestros, and much more, this musical mad scientist fuses those elements into a refreshing formula—evoking the Spanish spirit, yet distinctly unorthodox. Since studying under the late Georgia State University Professor (and Andres Segovia protégée) John Sutherland, Gladius has taught guitar lessons and classes (one-on-one and group lessons) since 2006 in a variety of settings including private in-home lessons, music stores, local recreation centers, and after-school programs. More than a fabulous performer and award-winning composer, listeners have called Gladius a miracle in the making – the guitarist has prevailed over a crippling case of nerve damage which greatly hindered the dexterity of both hands, and could have easily ended the musician’s career.  Gladius perseveres: relentlessly touring, recording, inspiring audiences of all ages, and winning numerous composition awards such as the Driven Creativity Competition and Music Composition Contest, among others.

Artistic Profile:

Inspired by the great composers, Spanish guitar maestros, and much more, this musical mad scientist fuses these elements into a refreshing formula—evoking the Spanish spirit, yet distinctly unorthodox.

More than a fabulous performer and award-winning composer, listeners have called Gladius a miracle in the making – the guitarist has prevailed over a crippling case of nerve damage which greatly hindered the dexterity of both hands, and could have easily ended the musician’s career. Eleven years, 4 surgeries, 9,000 hours of physical therapy, and countless prayers later, Gladius perseveres by relentlessly touring, recording, inspiring audiences of all ages, and winning numerous composition awards, such as Driven Creativity Competition (2013) and Music Composition Contest (2013), among others.

“Then let us all do what is right, strive with all our might toward the unattainable, develop as fully as we can the gifts God has given us, and never stop learning.”

– Ludwig van Beethoven
